Double the Birthdays, Double the Fun!

Both my boys have their birthdays a day apart (although Cole argues that they are really a night apart!).  While it's fun to have their birthdays so close together, it is a challenge to celebrate since the boys are 7 years apart...they are in completely different stages!

On Cole's birthday he wanted everyone to know that it was his 9th birthday.  With his help, I designed this birthday badge that he could wear to school.  I love the Lawn Fawn Beachside Pint-sized Patterns.  The navy and orange are so fun and great to use for boys!

I think it turned out super cute and he was so excited to wear it!  It was a great project for a 9 year old.  Isn't he so handsome?

When it comes to little Quinn I thought a birthday crown would be perfect!  I created it so it matched Cole's badge, so I used the same paper.  It was so fun to make.

Getting him to wear it was the hardest part!

I am so thankful for my sweet boys!  They are such a huge blessing and joy in my life!

Tea Time

Back in February, I took the boys to Ohio to visit family.  One of the highlights of the trip was my sister-in-law invited my sister and me to join her for tea at a local cafe.  It was so nice to be just the girls (thanks, Mom, for watching the kiddos!).  The food was yummy and the cafe was so cozy (I think the high that day was around 9 degrees...yikes!).  It was a perfect afternoon!

To thank my sister-in-law I made her a card.  I just had to use the new Lawn Fawn set Best Pun Ever...it was too perfect with the adorable tea kettle and cups.  I also used the Flirty Frames set as well.

I used colored pencils with Gamsol to color in the kettle and cups...it's one of my favorite techniques.  I just love the "you're tea-riffic" sentiment!

I am so thankful for the sisters God has given me...I am so blessed!  They are the best!

He Takes After Me...

Yesterday Cole participated in our church's AWANA boat race.  A couple weeks ago, Cole came home with a raw wood boat that he could do whatever he liked to it.  His main goal was to make it stand out...and it did!

He wasn't overly concerned about making the fastest boat...he just really wanted it to look good.  I am the same way...form always is more important to me than function.  If I don't like the design of something, I am just not going to use it...to a fault!

Cole had a blast and got an award for the "Sparkliest Boat" and he was thrilled!

I am so thankful for my super creative son!

Happy Trails

I am not into camping at all...but I bet I could get into it if I had a cute little camper like this!  I adore this Happy Trails stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  With the matching dies it made it easy to cut out a bunch of images and put together this happy scene.  It's sometimes difficult to make a masculine card, but this set makes it so easy!  I added glossy accents to the windows of the car and camper...and my favorite touch is using a white gel pen to add polka dots to the red curtains...so fun!

Hello!

Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple...like this card.  The hardest part (which really wasn't hard!) was die cutting the Lawn Fawn Scripty Hello Die 5 times and gluing the layers together. I used a Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle. I love how "hello" pops off the paper!   A couple sequins finished off the card.

Sometimes I make a card and it sits around waiting to be mailed.  This one got sent right off to a friend in Ohio.

I Heart Anchors

I really, really, really, like anchors.  I actually have promised myself not to buy another item with an anchor on it, because I literally have "gone overboard"!
I made this card awhile ago for my friend and neighbor who was having her 4th baby...and it was a girl!  I usually think of boys when doing a nautical theme, but I love how this card turned out!

I used Lawn Fawn's Float My boat stamp set  and matching dies to make the anchors.  I used a die to cut out the heart in a contrasting pattern to the background paper.

Seeing this card makes me want to use that anchor stamp again!

Cabin Style

This card reminds me of my first son's nursery.  We decorated it with a cabin theme with moose and bears.

I love using kraft cardstock as a base for cards...especially this one!  I used this adorable bear from Lawn Fawn's I Love You S'more stamp set.  I again used gamisol to blend colored pencils...I am really loving this technique!  I stamped 2 little pine trees in the background using Hero Arts Shadow Inks.  I used Distress Ink to give the image a vintage look (I am addicted to Distress Inks!).

To finish off the card I used some strips of patterned paper and used twine and a wooden leaf on top.  I colored the wooded leaf by pressing it directly into the ink pad I used to stamp the trees.

Blessings On Your Wedding Day

I recently needed to make a wedding card and knew the bride likes vintage.  I used the stitched scalloped border die along the bottom of my patterned paper...I love the detail it gives to any card.  I then used Milo's ABC stamp set to create my sentiment.  Stamping the  2 birds with blue ink tied in to the patterned paper.  A pink heart with a touch of glitter was the perfect finishing touch.  I used Hero Arts shadow inks for all my stamping.  Of course, I had to use some distress ink to give it a vintage look!

Everything is Fun With You

I learned recently how to use gamisol to blend colored pencils and wanted to make a card using the technique.  I absolutely love this Monster Mash stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  It was released as a Halloween set, but I love using it all year long!  The matching die set makes it super easy to cut these adorable monsters out.

I definitely will be using this coloring technique again...it was super easy, and love the look!

Missing You!

Almost 5 years ago we moved across the country from Ohio all the way to California.  While we love living in California, all of our family lives back in Ohio.  We miss them tons!

I love decorating with maps and globes, so I adore this stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  I simply stamped this U.S. map directly on my card base along with the "missing you" sentiment.  I love the little heart and stamped it to show where we live and where our family lives.  I quickly colored in the states with Copic markers...I used muted colors like a real map would have.  I then used Distress Ink to give the card an aged look.  I really like how it turned out, and loved that it didn't take long to make.

It's Been Awhile...

I had the awesome opportunity in January to go to CHA as a Fawnie for Lawn Fawn.  When I lived in Ohio I used to see pics from CHA and dream about going, and so it is a huge deal that I get to go!  My sweet friend Kelly is one of the owners and I love getting to hang out with her.

I am a busy mom of an 8 year old and a 1 year old.  I also homeschool.  This leaves me little time to be involved in crafting...as my blog reflects!  I am so thankful that Kelly lets me "live the dream" for a couple days.

Attending CHA inspired me to get creative...I realize I need to create...it is a gift God gave me and it I just have to use it.  I am praying that I will be able to squeeze in time to make things and then hopefully share some of it here!

My latest project was featured on the Lawn Fawn Blog last Friday.  Check it out here:  Valentine Banner
